Carrie Maria Underwood lahir di sebuah kota kecil bernama Checotah , Oklahoma , pada tanggal 10 Maret 1983. Ayahnya adalah seorang pemilik ladang & ibunya bekerja sebagai seorang guru SD. Anak termuda dari tiga bersaudara perempuan ini mulai menampakkan bakat menyanyinya sejak usia tiga tahun. Saat itu ia selalu tampak senang bila mendapatkan kesempatan menyanyi di gerejanya. Alhasil sejak ia masih sangat muda, orang-orang sudah melihat bahwa pengagum Martina McBride & Bonnie Raitt ini memiliki suara yang istimewa. Dan suara istimewa ini pulalah yang mengantarkannya ke studio rekaman dan merilis album debut berjudul “Some Hearts”.
